SELLING ON EBAY
How to compare eBay prices for your item
A similar title does not always mean a similar item. Start with the exact model, then check what each price includes.
Worked example: two asking prices
Our saved Horizon Forbidden West PS5 Launch Edition sample recorded two asking prices on October 11, 2026:
- First source listing: $19.36.
- Second source listing: $22.99.
The observed range was $19.36 to $22.99. Their arithmetic average is $21.18 after rounding. That is an average of two asking prices, not an average sold price or a recommended price for every copy. Source listings may have changed or ended.
Check the platform, edition, disc, case and condition before treating either listing as a match. Compare shipping separately.
Adding sold evidence
Open sold results on eBay for the same edition and inspect the actual matches. Enter verified sold prices manually in PicListed. This example has no verified sold transactions, so we do not present a sold average.
Search for the exact model and edition
Use the brand, model number and edition. For a PS5 game, exclude PS4 copies, bundles, empty cases and other editions. For electronics, check storage capacity, generation and included accessories.
Separate asking prices from sold prices
An active listing is an asking price, not proof that a buyer will pay it. Sold results show completed transactions, but still need checking for condition, contents and shipping. PicListed's automatic comparisons use current eBay asking prices. You can add sold comparisons manually.
Match condition and contents
A tested controller with its receiver is different from an untested controller on its own. Check each listing instead of averaging everything with a matching keyword. Missing parts, faults and bundles can distort the range.
Compare the full buyer cost
A lower item price with expensive shipping may cost more overall. PicListed's asking-price reference excludes shipping and fees, so open the source listings to check both. Your selling fees also affect what you receive.
Use a range, then choose your own price
A few closely matched listings are more useful than many unrelated ones. Treat the range as a starting point, consider how quickly you want to sell, and set your own asking price. A single comparison is limited evidence, and no reference guarantees a sale.
Check the sources again before listing
Prices and availability change. In PicListed, use Compare live prices to refresh the reference without using a photo recognition credit. Correct the search text if the recognized item was wrong. Our homepage sample is dated and includes links to the source listings.
